BJORN WIINBLAD EXHIBITION at ARKEN
Elegant arabesques, delicate, tender lines, dynamic colours and lush forms. Most Danes know the fanciful faces and distinctive ornamentation of Bjørn Wiinblad from his popular decorative plates and his amazing illustrations for One Thousand and One Nights. There are plenty of memories from Danish dining rooms, but they do not stand alone: today, interest in Wiinblad’s singular blend of a cool Nordic line and Oriental decoration is growing exponentially. Wiinblad’s aesthetics are undergoing a revival.
ARKEN is presenting an extensive exhibition of the whimsical world of Wiinblad in ceramics, china, posters, illustrations, sculptures, set designs, costumes and more. Ranging far and wide, the exhibition presents a multifaceted picture of the artist’s development, his sources of inspiration and his unique sense of craft, décor and design.
BJORN WIINBLAD EXHIBITION IN GRIMMERHUS
The exhibition was shown during the period of 2nd September 2012 to 24th February 2013 – EXTENDED UNTIL 1st April 2013.
In co-operation with Bjorn Wiinblad’s Foundation, The Danish Museum of Ceramic Art completed an extensive exhibition about the ceramic artist and artist Bjorn Wiinblad (1918-2006).
PLEASURE AND LIFE WORK
The exhibition ’Bjorn Wiinblad – pleasure and life work’ was a cornucopia of Wiinblad’s artistic life work as it unfolds in original sketches, sketches, utility design, textiles and especially his relatively unknown unika ceramic works of art.
LOVED, BUT NOT RECOGNISED
In several generations, Bjorn Wiinblad’s happy and adventurous idiom has left a distinct lasting imprint in many Danish homes. However, despite his popularity and his homespun and international breakthrough Bjorn Wiinblad never enjoyed the appreciation in his country as he had in fact deserved.
Thank you to all visiting the exhibition!
